Digital Air PhotosBlack and white aerial photography is available for all of
British Columbia at a variety of scales and, in some areas,
dating back more than fifty years. Colour aerial photography
is becoming increasingly available, particularly in the Okanagan,
Kootenay and Cariboo areas.

of black & white and colour aerial photography in BC that
include Aerotriangulation data.

![]() ![]() Gridded Digital Elevation Model (DEM) Map SheetsA Gridded Digital Elevation Model (DEM) Map Sheet is a 1:250 000
map sheet with additional slope, aspect, and hillshade data
derived from the Terrain Resource Information Management (TRIM)
program's DEM.

![]() ![]() HillshadeHillshade - TRIM products are a derivation of the BC gridded Digital Elevation
Model (BC DEM) consisting of eight distinct raster products, presented in two different
common planar projections, in file formats appropriate to the file content. The BC DEM
files use the National Topographic System (NTS) at 1:250 000
scale (250K blocks) as a delivery basis and have a grid spacing of 25 metres.

that displays ground features to be displayed in their true
ground position with a constant scale throughout the image.

![]() Satellite ImagerySatellite imagery are photographs of Earth or other planets made from artificial satellites.
Satellites orbiting Earth have an orbit, elevation and time intervals to cover the globe and image
the same area. Examples of these satellites are Landsat, SPOT, IKONOS, Quick Bird and IRS. Active
satellites record reflected radiations which the sensors will send to earth surface. These are
Radar Satellites such as Canadian RADARSAT 1 and 2.

1:250 000 Base Map (NTS)Unlike the Terrain Resource Information
Management (TRIM) product which involves direct
data compilation, the 1:250 000 data has been
produced by scanning various lithographic layers
of the published paper map series.

Freshwater Atlas ProductsThe Freshwater Atlas (FWA) formerly known asCorporate Watershed Base (CWB) ans TRIM Watershed
Atlas (TWA) is a watershed atlas that defines
watershed boundaries by height of land and provides a stream and
lake network for water management and fisheries information.

BCACS GPS Base Station DataThe BC Active Control System (BCACS) network comprises permanent, continuously operating Global Positioning System (GPS) base stations linked to Victoria via telecommunication networks. It provides raw GPS observables from GPS receivers located on very precise and accurately located geodetic control monumentation. BCACS Post-mission Data
is available for the whole province by subscription
or on a pay-per-download basis.

BCACS Municipal Data - CRDThe BCACSm is a system which provides GPS corrections in post-mission and real-time using the standardized Provincial coordinate system. Real-time communication is supported via a UHF radio link and/or wireless PCS link (i.e. cellular telephone). Real-time accuracy levels range from approximately 1m (using RTCM code corrections and a mapping grade GPS receiver) to centimetre level (using dual frequency survey grade receivers). The BC
ACSm - CRD provides the
capability to acquire precise control anywhere within the CRD without
the requirement to have two GPS receivers or using costly
traversing to bring control in from distant monuments. All the user
needs is a single GPS receiver capable of achieving the accuracy they
require, and an off-the-shelf radio receiver. Subscriptions to the
correction signal can be obtained from the CRD.

BCACS Municipal Data - MVThe BCACSm is a system which provides GPS corrections in post-mission and real-time using the standardized Provincial coordinate system. This real-time GPS Service was developed as a
partnership between Crown Registry and Geographic Base and the Greater Vancouver Regional
District, and the municipalities comprising the Metro Vancouver (MV). CRGB and the MV are working in
partnership with selected private companies to build this system to support high precision
real-time GPS applications within the MV. The Service supports real-time metre level
positioning (DGPS) for mapping and GIS applications and positioning at the level of a few
centimetres (RTK) horizontally and vertically for survey and engineering applications.

![]() ![]() MASCOT Geodetic DataMASCOT is a geodetic database management and processing system based on
Oracle, C, PL/SQL and FORTRAN numerical computing within a Sun
Microsystem Solaris computer architecture. The MASCOT Website provides
access to the final product on the database. This subscription allows
the user to access the MASCOT database and download data up to the
subscription limit. If you do not want a subscription to the MASCOT
service, then the user can still "pay-per-download" by accessing the
MASCOT website and applying for a standard account.

![]() National Transformation (NTv2) SoftwareThe National Transformation Version 2 (NTv2) software and data package provides a
national standard for transforming coordinates between the NAD27 and NAD83 reference
systems.
